Research Interests
Dr. Saggere's primary research interests are in
the area of MicroElectromechanical Systems (MEMS). The research
thrust is toward novel and efficient ways to transduce energy and
motion at small-scales to enable new applications in engineering
and biomedical fields. Towards this objective, MEMS technology is
synthesized with other enabling technologies such as active materials
and microfluidics, and design approaches such as compliant mechanisms
and biomimetics. Current research is focused on the development
of novel MEMS-based miniaturized devices such as microactuators,
micropumps and micromechanisms with enhanced/special functionality.
The work involves all aspects of development including concept,
design, modeling and simulation, microfabrication, device prototyping,
and experimental testing.
